To me it doesn't seem like the game is dead, nor has been dying for the past many years, and i simply want to hear other peoples opinion on this. While the Playstation 4 playerbase is by far the biggest when compared to PC (I have the game on both platforms), it seems that the player count for Xenoverse 2 has been more or less consistent on PC ever since late 2016 with the average number sitting somewhere between 2-3k players daily. To me this has always been a childhood dream come true, and while i personally haven't noticed much of a downfall, i seem to hear people everywhere spouting on about how the game is dead. In my opinion Xenoverse 2 along with FighterZ is the ultimate Dragon Ball experience and the closest true fans of the series will ever get to immerse themselves within the Dragon Ball universe - especially with all the freedom it gives you in terms of creating your own character with each of their unique abilities and becoming part of Dragon Ball's history.
Although new powers and characters add variety, the many arena battles that take up most of the game can lead to a feeling of repetitive grind for people who aren't thoroughly committed to them.Speaking as a dedicated Xenoverse 2 player here i love the game with all my heart and still genuinely play it even after all the years that have gone by. The graphics aren't groundbreaking, but they do effectively capture the style and characters of the show.
As in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1, combat can be equally complex to get the hang of, although players who are familiar with other 3-D fighters will quickly grasp the importance of spacing, combo execution and quick reaction. Characters from the show offer new battle techniques as well as challenging opponents. Characters can roam freely around the game's central hub city, but the real action takes place in the battle arenas, where characters face off in the super-powered martial arts action Dragon Ball fans have come to expect. In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, players take on the role a Time Patroller moving fighting to protect the history of the popular animated series.
